Which of these men would you help? (#homeless #welfare #texas)

Meet sandy. He is a homeless man living in Austin, Texas. He is not an alcoholic and doesn’t take drugs. He is a regular guy who became homeless through circumstance.

YouTube bloggers QuietAssassins conducted a social experiment with Sandy.

They recorded Sandy ‘pan-handling’ on the streets of Austin to see the reaction he gets from passers-by when he is dressed in scruffy clothes. Although homeless, Sandy does not pan-handle on the streets normally.

Then they dress him in a suit, he gets a smart haircut, and looks like a ‘normal’ working person. He hits the streets again and does the same thing.

The difference in people’s reactions is quite astonishing. Watch the video to see what happens, and to learn a little more about the experiment.
